The one thing about trauma is that it can present itself in several different ways and pop up when we least expect it. Sometimes, it presents itself as impulsiveness, distractibility, avoidance, and genuinely feeling like the world is against you. If you’ve ever experienced these challenges, a way of coping might be through substance use, which has led to a cycle of addiction. Having a decade of experience behind her, Kaela knows the loneliness, anxiety and depression you may be feeling and can confidently support you in unravelling all these challenges so you can start creating a more meaningful life for yourself.
In your sessions with Kaela, she takes the time to really get to know you and understand what makes you tick, all while building a strong foundation of trust. Kaela sees therapy as a team effort, where both of you work together to figure out the goals that will lead to a more meaningful and fulfilling life. She's all about empowering you and guiding you to recognize the tools and strengths you already have to make positive changes in your life. Kaela operates from a harm reduction perspective, offering support in creating relapse prevention and safe coping plans that you can rely on outside of your sessions. It's not just about understanding your challenges—it's about tapping into your own strengths for lasting, positive transformations.
When she’s not in sessions, Kaela spends time with her partner and two children. When she isn’t busy driving her daughter to dance classes or her son to basketball, soccer or piano, she can be found on the comfy chair in her living room sipping coffee and reading a good book. She also loves to travel, watch live theatre, and spend time with family and friends!
